Andrew Friedman - Friedman Properties LLC
After beginning his career at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General - Division of Consumer Affairs, Mr. Friedman worked as a real estate associate at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker LLP, focusing his responsibilities on the negotiation of secured single and multiple asset financing, revolving credit facilities and the acquisition and sale of retail properties throughout the United States. Most of Mr. Friedman's time at Paul Hastings was dedicated to the representation of Lexington Realty Trust, a leading investor in single-tenant net-leased commercial properties across the nation.
After leaving the private practice of law in 1999, Mr. Friedman worked in retail management as an Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer of Bottle King Wine and Liquors, a discount wine and spirits market in New Jersey. Mr. Friedman was also responsible for store expansions, more specifically, finding and developing new store locations.
In 2003, Mr. Friedman shifted his business focus to the development and re-positioning of commercial retail real estate in New Jersey. Mr. Friedman currently owns and manages many of those properties.
In 2011, Mr. Friedman joined Pembroke Capital with John Vander Zwaag and Mark Still. The Company is dedicated to achieving superior risk adjusted returns through investment in office, industrial, retail and net lease real estate.
In addition to his work as an attorney, real estate executive and retail management executive, Mr. Friedman is a founding member of the Essex County Chapter of the American Conference on Diversity, an organization formed to work with leaders to create and enhance a society that embraces social justice.
Mr. Friedman currently serves on the Business-Friendly Committee of Livingston Township, a committee organized by Township Leaders to make Livingston a more "business-friendly" township by cultivating existing businesses and further attracting new commercial activity. Also serving on the committee with Mr. Friedman are two former mayors of Livingston, two current Town Council members, a Planning Board member and two members of the Business Improvement District Committee.
Mr. Friedman earned a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from The George Washington University and a Juris Doctorate Degree from The St. John's University School of Law where he authored an article entitled Ding, Dong Durrett Didn't Die - Landlords Take Cover. The article, which addressed the rights of Trustees in Bankruptcy with respect to terminated leasehold interests, was published in the New York Real Property Law Journal in 1995. Mr. Friedman also earned an LL.M. Degree in Taxation from the Georgetown University School of Law.
